My
Rambling Thoughts
Sleep study
went well. Woke up very refreshed. Newer technology makes it quiet. Nice! Awaiting
results.
Having a
warm, quiet day. Guess I am relieved as this sleep apnea thing moves forward.
While
following the exit of UK from the EU I heard that Scotland voted to stay, then
I found out N. Ireland did too. This is going to be very interesting. While in
Ireland, traveling to Belfast, N. Ireland, the only ‘difference’ was that N.
Ireland used the Euro, while Ireland did not. This exit will be interesting.
Will checkpoints be reinstated along the Ireland/N. Ireland border? Will N. Ireland
and Scotland withdraw from the UK to stay in the EU? Politicians were so
unaware of the people’s ideas.

(answers at

Internationally Known
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a
question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a
requirement.
Every nation
do I know,
But so rarely do I go
Anywhere,
Sometimes people
Come and stare,
Touch me here,
And poke me there,
Spin me round,
Then leave me alone
When what they sought,
They have found.
What am I?

A single tree seems to throw forth robust, undulating rows of lavandin, a
variety of lavender, in Provence, France. Lavender fields are a Provence
hallmark and considered by many to be the area’s best scenery. The plant,
sometimes called "blue gold," is used to make soaps, perfumes, and
lotions and is even used in foods. #nature #lavandin #France #Provence

How's That For Luck? ------------*
The Illinois
lottery announced a man with the appropriate surname Gambles won the drawing
for the second time -- playing the exact same numbers. Larry Gambles, 65, of
Matteson, won a $1,050,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot prize by matching all five
numbers in the June 7 drawing. Gambles said his numbers, 01-06-12-14-25, have
proved lucky for him in the past -- including a previous lotto drawing.
"Nine years ago, I won $50,000 playing the numbers from the jerseys of my
high school basketball team. I've been playing the same numbers ever since. I
can't believe they paid off again!" Gambles said. The retired school
administrator offered some advice for other lottery jackpot hopefuls:
"Pick your favorite numbers and stick with them. It worked for me!"
Unfortunately for Gambles, since the state of Illinois still doesn't have a
budget, he won't be getting paid off any time soon.

Somewhat
Useless Information
One the most
deadly airplane accidents actually happened on the ground. In 1977, two fully
loaded planes carrying a total of over 600 passengers collided head-on in the
middle of the runway in what is now known as the Tenerife Accident, named after
Tenerife Island where the accident occurred. Over 500 people died.
Airplanes typically fly at an altitude of around 35,000 feet. If Earth were the
size of a desktop globe, a plane at that height would be flying at only 1/10 of
an inch off the surface.
One
windshield or window frame of a Boeing 747-400's cockpit costs as much as a
BMW.
The average Boeing 747 has around 150-175 miles of wiring inside it.
Mercury is not allowed on a flight. Even a small amount of mercury can
seriously damage aluminum, which is what most planes are made from. Airplanes
that are exposed to mercury are usually quarantined.
