My Rambling Thoughts
Another hot day here at 7000’. One of the things I like about living here is that we seldom have consistent weather extremes. This hot weather is very unusual, both for the high temps in June and the number of days we have suffered. Sleeping at night is still working. However; I am officially tired of the heat.

There are so many road construction projects going on in our small town, moving around is becoming very tiresome. Weeks and weeks of road closures and weeks and weeks of closed lanes on the main road through town have greatly expanded the travel time this summer. And starting yesterday, the AC in my ride moved from 2 to 3 with all vents closed just to have the vehicle be tolerable.

My blood draw was very easy yesterday. It is in the same big room as people getting chemo. That makes me count my blessings. The chairs are very comfortable, I was given juice to drink during the 30 minute draw. The poor nurse had to sit with me the whole time so we had a nice chat. No bruise is always nice. Seems that as I fill the big bottle, she has to stay in case my blood stops flowing. That could lead to a clot in my vein. Scary. After the bottle was full, she disconnected the needles, tossed the blood, and tried to get my blood pressure. After 3 tries I told her I was fine and that I was sorry I had broken her fancy BP machine. When I did these at the hospital, I was never offered juice, sat on an unpadded chair, and several times ended up with a big bruise. This place was much nicer. Still don’t want to do it again any time soon. I did meet with the nurse about my CPAP machine. The Dr. is on vaca until the 5th, but she promised to check with others to see what could be done about the CPAP pressure. Would have liked to have it settled but everyone working deserves a vacation and I admire any doctor who has to meet with really sick people, so I’ll happily wait.

Ready for a quiet weekend in this horribly hot weather.

Yep, It Really Happened
*-- Be Careful Who You Have a Threesome With --*

According to police in Brooklyn, New York, officers responded to a 911 call of a man who was injured and bleeding heavily. Officers found 20-year-old Manos Ikonomidis dead. He suffered three stab wounds in the chest and back. A resident in the building said that there was a lot of noise coming from one apartment throughout the night, where Ikonomidis allegedly had a consensual threesome with 21-year-old Jack Doherty and a 21-year-old woman. According to witnesses, the woman became upset after realizing that Ikonomidis had recorded the threesome. Doherty drove the woman back to her Staten Island home, while Ikonomidis stayed in the apartment, where three people had sex. Meanwhile, the woman contacted her boyfriend, who was not involved in the threesome, and alleged that she was raped by Ikonomidis. The boyfriend and two other men went to the apartment and confronted Ikonomidis. He was beaten and stabbed as he tried to run from the apartment. Surveillance cameras showed two white men and a black man running after Ikonomidis with baseball bats. Ikonomidis managed to go to a neighbor's house and ask for help before he collapsed and died.

Somewhat Useless Information
In 1596, an inventor named John Harrington, godson to Queen Elizabeth I, tried to create a more advanced chamber pot. The queen and her godson both used the flush model he came up with, but Harrington was ridiculed by his peers for fooling around with such a ridiculous idea, thus ending his career as an inventor.

In 1857, New Yorker Joseph C. Gayetty produced the first packaged bathroom tissue in the United States. It was called "The Therapeutic Paper" and contained aloe for added comfort. The company sold the paper in packs of 500 sheets at 50 cents apiece, and Gayetty's name was printed on every sheet.

A lot of people think a public toilet seat is the filthiest place on Earth, but that may not be true. According to experts, the floor of a public bathroom is much dirtier, with around two million bacteria per square inch - that's 200 times higher than what's considered a sanitary surface.
