Today’s Thoughts
A very nice spring day. I took off early for a blood draw. It went well. They
all know me and greet me by name. Nice!
I just don’t understand…Trump has spent billions on deporting the worst
of the worst immigrants. The administration believes this funding is going to
continue. At the same time, the administration is looking for huge empty warehouses
to buy and convert into immigration prisons. If deporting in the message, why
do we need prisons? If we need the prisons because deporting is not working,
then why do they keep asking for more money to deport? Is this administration going
to keep spending and spending until the government is broke? We need answers
yesterday.
Real Hoaxes
The Salem “Witch
Evidence” Spiral
This
wasn’t one single forged artifact, but it functioned like a social hoax fueled
by fear and accusation. Spectral "evidence" and rumors were treated
as proof, and the claims multiplied because panic is contagious. It’s a
reminder that communities can convince themselves of almost anything when
anxiety takes the helm.
The “Balloon Boy”
Hoax
In 2009, a Colorado family claimed their homemade helium balloon had accidentally lifted off with their young son inside. News helicopters chased it live, emergency teams mobilized, and the whole country held its breath until he was found safe at home. It later came out that the incident was staged by the family, who were desperate for media attention and money.
