Today’s Thoughts
It’s a really nice spring day.
I believe I have turned the corner on this crazy bronchitis. I woke up
this morning and felt so much better. Today I took the last antibiotic but will
continue the nebulizer for a while longer. That is really good.
I caught up with my brother while he is traveling Spain. He is sure staying busy for a vacation.
I am still wondering if Trump will ever decide that his war and tariffs are not part of the American dream. Nor are the ballroom and the arch. The American dream is more about individuals who want to live a good life. That should be our country’s number one concern.
Science Fact of the Day
Mangabeys
are African monkeys that have a special throat sac that gives them a booming
voice. Males have larger throat sacs than females. They make shrieking alarm
calls, barks, twitters, and grunts. Adult male mangabeys make a whoop-gobble,
which is a unique vocalization that catches the attention of other mangabeys in
the area and tells them who and where an individual is. It can be heard up to
1,000 yards away.

Native American Courage in History
The Ghost Dance And The
Spiritual Resistance Movement
A religious movement born in
the late 1880s, the Ghost Dance offered hope of restoring Native American lands
and cultures. For many, it symbolized a spiritual form of resistance. Still, as
its influence grew, the U.S. government saw it as an issue, leading to violent
suppression, most notably at Wounded Knee.
