Today’s Thoughts
Strange weather day.
I woke up to clouds, by 7am the sky was clear. Around noon the clouds started
coming in. Still expecting some snow today.
No wonder we are
confused. The 4th Amendment says that law enforcement can’t enter
without a warrant, with a few exceptions. The 2nd Amendment says
basically you can ‘stand your ground.’ Following these rules, I fear that more
violence is in the future.
For those who are
cheering Trump’s treatment of NATO, please review the history of NATO. Most of
his statements are easy to debunk with a little time with the history of NATO.
Here in AZ: Tribal
members can have ‘Native American’ put on their drivers license or state ID.
People in and out of the Native community are divided on whether this is good
or wrong. On the good side, this could stop ICE from detaining Native Americans
if they have AZ ID. On the wrong side, this is similar to what happened in
Hitler’s Germany…having a minority identified on an ID is just like the yellow
star. So far, this is voluntary, but what about the future?
Another killing in
Minnesota, this time a 37-year-old White male was shot and killed by a Federal
Agent. I’ll wait until more info comes out.
Trivia
Chimpanzees Have Declared
War On Gorillas
After millennia of seemingly coexisting peacefully,
chimpanzees and gorillas are suddenly in a deadly battle. In early 2019, German
researchers noticed increasing violence between the species while observing
them inside Loango
National Park in Gabon.
While studying the
behaviors of chimps in the park, researchers from the Max Planck Institute for
Evolutionary Anthropology and Osnabrück University witnessed a brutal attack by
two dozen chimps on a group of five Western lowland gorillas, including one baby. The ambush resulted in a long fight between the groups, and the
demise of the baby gorilla. Later that year, another attack by a large group of
chimps took place in the same park. Again, the gorillas were largely
outnumbered, and a baby gorilla died.
While they're both
primates - and are even in the same family, Hominidae - the
two are very different in temperament. Gorillas tend to be gentle, whereas
chimpanzees are well known for their violent tendencies. Although their
aggression has mostly been directed internally, researchers believe chimps may
be feeling increasingly threatened by gorillas due to various changes to their
environment. Decreasing territory and fewer food sources might be making the
chimps extra aggressive. But where and when the war will end, nobody knows.
