My Rambling Thoughts
Monday
is a nice clear day…hear the monsoon will return for one last hurrah later.
When
I moved to Flag ten years ago, I bought
a metal birdbath that could either hang in a tree or be on a stand. The tree
thing was nice but didn’t really work out with our strong winds. Today I bought
a new birdbath that hooks onto the railing of the deck and is made of metal, with
a plastic birdbath. The old one had lost most of its paint and was rusting
quite badly. Hope this one lasts as long.
While
I was out and about I listened to NPR. A story about cable news caught my
attention. FoxNews ( or FauxNews) is the number one most watched cable channel…not
just news, but of all the cable networks. Their demographic is people over 60
with a high school education. I am not a FauxNews fan. It is way too
conservative for me and it sees most issues as a clear right or wrong issue.
Sorry, life isn’t like that. I’m sure they don’t miss my viewership, but they
seem to have way too many older Americans following them. To add to my
concerns, CNN, MSNBC, and the others also have a demographic over 60 year olds.
And those under 30 are getting their news from websites, especially the conservative
ones like Breitbart. No wonder the right wants to cut educational funding at
every level.

He Is Nervous
A
major speaker for the annual auto dealer’s convention was visiting the rest
room just before he was to speak to the 10,000 members. He was asked, "Are
you our special speaker?"
"Yes, I sure am and I am excited to be here," he replied.
"Are you nervous?"
"No, I'm never nervous before I give a big speech."
"If you are not nervous, then what are you doing in the ladies room?"

BMW
It
is a slogan that has been around for nearly 40 years. How many brands do you
know keep slogans that long? The truth is, it has stood the test of time
because it is a slogan that works. The ultimate driving machine could mean
anything from a sports car to an SUV and anything in between. In 2006, a rumor surfaced
that BWM was dropping the tagline and switching to "A Company of
Ideas" but that obviously didn't last. The ultimate driving machine
clearly needed to keep the ultimate tagline. Source: The BMW Blog

All ‘data’ info is from
the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I
have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information
is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify.
Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the
dates may not be totally accurate.
