My
Rambling Thoughts
So happy yesterday as my
jet lag ended. I stayed up all day, until about 10p, slept through the night
and woke up rested about 6a. Nice!
My trip-our first days
were spent in Barcelona. We did a city tour with many stops for pics. So hard to take pictures through the glass of
a bus. Beautiful city with several World Heritage Sites.
Our second day took us to
Monserrat a beautiful drive to the top of the mountain to see the Basilica.
Well worth a visit.
Spanish wine was served
with every lunch and dinner. Couldn’t turn any of that down.
I am having trouble with
the ‘icloud’. It won’t show my pics on my computer, so if you want to see pics,
try my FB page or my Instagram page…charlie6349. Should get it figured out
tomorrow. If Verizon can’t help, then off to the apple dealer.

Sight Rhymes 5
Language brain teasers are those that involve
the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
In each group below, the
three words end in the same three letters, so they look like they should rhyme,
but they don't. See if you can figure out the missing letters in each group.
Example: plo___, tho___, to___ would be plough, though, tough.
1. c___, forw___, rew___
2. cr___, p___, sk___
3. b___, d___, g___

The Magic Guitar
My wife curiously noticed
that every time it was my turn to put the kids to bed they fall asleep in
minutes.
I told her that when I play my guitar it works like magic putting kids to sleep.
She said I must be exceedingly talented because it works just like that with her as well.

Yep,
It Really Happened
Thieves in Canada made off
with more than 5,000 gallons of maple syrup from trucks stored at a local
warehouse. The shipment was meant to be sent to Japan before delays forced it to
be locked away temporarily. Vice president of Mexuscan Cargo shipping company
Alfredo Monaco said thieves broke into the warehouse and stole a shipping
container carrying 20 pallets with a total of about 5,283 gallons of the syrup.
According to the CBC, the shipping company is offering a $10,000 reward for the
load's return. Monaco said insurance will not cover the total of the missing
goods and the company would lose about $60,000, making the decision to offer a
reward an easy one. "$10,000 is not much compared to the value of the
goods," Monaco said.

Useless Information
This month over 50 million
students will attend public elementary and secondary schools. An additional 5
million students are expected to attend private schools. And public school
systems will employ over 3.1 million full-time-equivalent teachers to teach
them.

In colonial times and into the early decades of the 19th century, most teachers were men. From the 1820s to 1830s, as more public schools (called Common Schools) were built and more men were siphoned off by more prestigious professions, women began to take over the schoolroom. The feminization of teaching not only change how society perceived women, but how women perceived themselves.

Pink and Turquoise
Nothing brings color to
our lives like the Pride flag but did you know that the original flag came with
two extra colors? Pink and turquoise. Unfortunately, the two colors had to be
dropped due to the standard flag manufacturer's color palette (which apparently
doesn't have a plethora of colors to choose from). The rainbow flag, created by
Gilbert Baker, symbolizes life, healing, sunlight, nature, serenity, and
spirit. Source: Gilbert Baker, creator of the Pride Flag

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and
is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that
every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many
sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events
occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be
totally accurate.
