Arts Minister Síle de Valera hails the State’s acquisition of a previously
unseen collection of original manuscripts by James Joyce as “a
monumental event in Ireland’s literary and cultural history”. The collection,
stored in Paris for many years, consists of 500 sheets of handwritten notes by
the author. It includes notes and drafts by Joyce on several works including
his classics, Ulysses and Finnegans Wake, as well as notebooks dating from the
early 1900s

My Rambling Thoughts
It is the Memorial Day
Weekend. It is a time for remembering the people who died while serving in the
country's armed forces. As Obama visited Hiroshima this week, I learned two
things: First that 11 US servicemen died at Hiroshima, as they were POW’s at
the time. I hope many will see the Paper Lantern
site. If you saw the elderly man hug Obama after his speech at
Hiroshima, this is his story. I also was reminded that wherever the President
goes, there are always two things with him. One if the ‘biscuit’, a key that is
needed to set off the nuclear devices. The other is the ‘football’ which is
connected to the US nuclear arsenal. As the only country that has ever used the
atomic bomb on a city, it was eerie to listen to Obama’s words, yet know that
the biscuit and the football were nearby.
For sure we need to
remember the many who given their all to keep our country free.
Tonight is my ‘sleep study’.
Get to travel across town, get hooked up, and find out how I sleep. Still
laughing at the instructions: 1. No alcohol after 8a, 2. No Naps, 3. Bring two
piece pajamas, 4. Arrive at 9:30p and you can leave about 5:30a.

Brain Teasers
(answers

Two Men in the Forest
Logic puzzles require you to think. You will have to be logical in
your reasoning.
Difficulty:
2.2
Two
men went deep into the Dutch Forest: one, a small, meek man; the other, a
monster.
They walked for days, until, out of food, they got desperate. The monster murdered the meek man, and ate him for dinner!
He left no remains, whatsoever, and was seen by no one. On his return to civilization he told no one.
Who was the murdering, cannibalistic monster?

"I was just going with the flow of traffic."

Melissa
went up to her college professor, ready to contest the grade she received in
the class. "I don’t understand why my grade was so low. How did I do on my
research paper?
After staring at her with a blank look, the professor responded. "Actually, you didn’t turn in a research paper. You turned in a random assemblage of sentences. In fact, the sentences you apparently kidnapped in the dead of night and forced into this violent and arbitrary plan of yours clearly seemed to be placed on the pages against their will. Reading your paper was like watching unfamiliar, uncomfortable people interacting at a cocktail party that no one wanted to attend in the first place. You didn’t submit a research paper. You submitted a hostage situation."

Yep, It Really Happened
*------------ You're
Doing It Wrong ------------*
A
mother was arrested after her child fell unconscious when she sat on his head
for one hour. In any other circumstance this would be nothing more than a kinky
fetish story, but police in Georgia said the victim was the woman's own
2-year-old. 36-year-old Susan Elizabeth Kelley is accused of placing a towel on
the seat of a wooden dining room chair before she put the child's head on it.
She then proceeded to sit on the child's head with her full body weight for
about one hour. She allegedly told authorities that she did so to get the child
to be submissive. Again; she's been watching too much fetish porn in the
Internets. When the boy became unconscious, he was taken to a hospital. Doctors
called police after seeing the boy with redness on the head, chest and back. He
is expected to make a full recovery.

Somewhat Useless
Information
There
are approximately 60 nutrients which are placed in six major categories:
proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water.
Vitamin D is unusual because it is the only vitamin that can be synthesized in the body. Sunlight is the main source of Vitamin D, though sunscreen lotions with high SPF can prevent vitamin D formation. Vitamin D is also the only vitamin that is a hormone.

Insects such as termites and ants provide 10 percent of the protein consumed worldwide. Where insects are an integral part of a diet, they contribute as much as 40 percent of protein.
In the United States, it is estimated that every adult unconsciously consumes one pound of insects each year due to garden produce, poor restaurant and home hygiene, and commercial foods for which the USDA allows a certain amount of insect fragments. Peanut butter, for example, is allowed to have 30 insect fragments per 100 grams.
Eggs contain the highest quality food protein known. All parts of an egg are edible, including the shell which has a high calcium content.

All ‘data’
info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other
source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the
information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult
to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted
[1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
