My Rambling Thoughts
TGIF—a little windy for my taste but still
warm and there ain‘t no sand in the air!
Did some quick run around this morning and
then took a nice walk through the neighborhood for some much needed exercise.
Gotta work to get back to my 10,000 steps daily…I have fallen off through the
winter but now I have no excuse.
Working on a new website for a local
organization. The organization is NARFE, National Active and Retired Federal Employees
Asssociation. A former colleague asked me to help get the local organization on
the web. Sounds easy, but having a problem figuring out exactly what the Local
does and don’t understand what the National does. The Nat’l website talks about
‘Protecting the future for active and retired Federal employees.’ From the
other local websites in AZ, it seems they give their members nice titles, meet
for lunch once a month, and plan their next meeting. I’ll get it up and running
this weekend with something.

Brain Teasers
(answers
at the end of post)
Letter Juggle 5
Language brain teasers are those
that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words
and letters.
Take
the given words, and by moving a single letter from one word to the other, make
a pair of synonyms, or near synonyms. For example, given: Boast - Hip, move the
's' from 'Boast' to 'Hip' creating two synonyms: Boat - Ship.
1. Pain - Nil
2. War - Zoned
3. Routing - Tip
4. Shot - Teaming
5. Right - Blight

2 jokes for the day
Guy walks into bar, pulling on a long chain.
The bartender asks him, "You come in here every day pulling that chain,
why?"
The guy replies, "You ever tried to push one?"

One day a husband says to his wife, “Today is
a fine day!” Next day he says it again. “Today is a fine day.” Again next day,
he says same thing, “Today is a fine day.”
Finally after a week, the wife asks her husband, “Since last week, you are
saying today is a fine day. I am fed up. What’s the matter?”
"Last week when we had an argument, you said, 'I will leave you one fine
day.' I was just trying to remind you."

*-------- You're Gonna Need a Bigger Arm --------*
BOCA RATON, Fla. - A 23-year-old Florida woman
bitten by a 2-foot nurse shark Sunday afternoon was taken to the hospital with
it still attached to her arm. A splint board was used to support the
unidentified woman's arm and the shark as she lay on the stretcher and was
placed into an ambulance at Red Reef Park off the Atlantic Ocean. The shark was
killed by a bystander before the fire department's arrival "but was still
attached to her arm" when she arrived at Boca Regional Hospital in stable
condition. Several people nearby said the woman and her friends were
antagonizing the shark. Nate Pachter, 11, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel
that he and his cousin were snorkeling when he saw a group "holding the
shark by its tail. They were messing with it." Nurse sharks are common in
offshore Florida waters and can grow up to 14 feet in length.

Somewhat Useless
Information
Spiders are vital to a healthy ecosystem. They
eat harmful insects, pollinate plants, and recycle dead animal and plants back
into the earth. They are also a valuable food source for many small mammals,
birds, and fish.
The silk in a spider's web is five times stronger than a strand of steel that
is the same thickness. A web made strands of spider silk as thick as pencil
could stop a Boeing 747 jumbo jet in flight. Scientists still cannot replicate
the strength and elasticity of a spider's silk.
The world's biggest spider is the goliath
spider (Theraphosa blondi). It can grow up to 11 inches wide, and its fangs are
up to one inch long. It hunts frogs, lizards, mice, and even small snakes and
young birds.
The world's smallest spider is the Patu marplesi. It is so small that 10 of
them could fit on the end of a pencil.

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or
disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually
checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains
mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it
and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the
Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
