My
Rambling Thoughts
Windy Saturday, after a very windy night.
Awakened several times during the night from the wind…unusual since they
trimmed the tree by my bedroom window, but when the wind is strong…over about
40mph…the tree has plenty of branches for noise. I had planned to clean up the
planters and the deck to get ready for summer time out there, but way too windy
to accomplish much. Maybe tomorrow.

jokes for the day
The young mother skeptically examined a new
educational toy. "Isn't it rather complicated for a small boy?" she
asked the salesclerk.
"It's designed to adjust the child to live in today's world, ma'am,"
the shop assistant replied. "So basically, any way he tries to put it
together is wrong."

A baby turtle was standing at the bottom of a
large tree and with a deep sigh, started to climb. About an hour later, he
reached a very high branch and walked along to the end. He turned and spread
all four flippers and launched himself off the branch. On landing at the bottom
in a pile of soft, dead leaves, he shook himself off, walked back to the bottom
of the tree and with a sigh started to climb.
About an hour later, he again reached the very high branch, walked along,
turned, spread his flippers and flung himself off the branch. Again, he landed
on the bottom, shook himself off, went to the bottom of the tree, sighed and
started climbing.
Watching these proceedings from the end of the branch were two birds. The Momma
bird turned to Daddy bird and said, "Don't you think it's time we told him
he was adopted?"

Yep,
It Really Happened
*-- Why Are Chimney Dwellers Always Naked? --*
What is it about climbing down a chimney that
makes crazy people want to take their clothes off? Carrie Sapp said she was
working the next morning at the Carroll Redemption Center in Carroll, Iowa when
she heard a man yell for help from the chimney. She said the man tried to
explain, "I was playing hide-and-seek with my cousin. Don't call the cops."
But the police were called, as was the fire department, which eventually
managed to free the soot-covered, naked man. Firefighters initially planned to
use a rope to pull Jordan Kajewski from the chimney, but eventually opted to
hammer a hole in it and pulled him out. Though naked, the 29-year-old Kajewski
had his clothes with him. "This was definitely a first for the Carroll
Fire Department," Fire Chief Greg Schreck said. Kajewski was charged with
trespassing.

Somewhat
Useless Information
Be thankful for your body odor. According to
anthropologist Louis Leakey, it might be responsible for early man's survival.
Leakey's theory claims that most predators avoided feasting on humans because
our body odor was "too repugnant."
***
Not only did the ancient Egyptians give us pyramids and flush toilets, they
also pioneered the field of deodorants. Egyptians were the first to popularize
the idea of applying scents to armpits, usually using cinnamon and other spices
that wouldn't turn rancid in the heat.
***
Antiperspirants are classified as drugs by the FDA. Technically, they affect
and/or alter your body's natural functions.
***
The first modern brand of antiperspirant, EverDry, hit drugstores in 1903. The
original formula was so acidic that it regularly ate through clothing.
***
Of course, modern antiperspirants can also ruin your clothing. Aluminum
chloride, the ingredient that blocks glandular openings and prevents sweating,
is notorious for turning T-shirts yellow. So, blame your antiperspirant for
your pit stains, not your body.
***
When Kurt Cobain wrote the lyrics for Nirvana's breakout song "Smells Like
Teen Spirit," he didn't know Teen Spirit was a popular deodorant brand.
The Mennen Company, which produced the deodorant, wouldn't say whether the song
caused sales to spike, but six months after the single debuted, Colgate bought
the company for $670 million.

Look both ways before crossing the road.
ie. 'Look' is spelt forwards and backwards (both ways) and it comes before the
words 'the road' which has X's all through it ie. it has been 'crossed'.

All ‘data’
info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other
source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the
information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult
to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted
[1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
