My Rambling Thoughts
Good news on a Monday…my traveling partner for next year’s Focus/Tumlare cruise to the Far East is having minor back surgery in May and should be back to normal in a couple of weeks. Great news for both of us.
Still organizing tax stuff, guess I’ll finish it tomorrow.
My PCP gave me a new blood pressure med last week. He said I might experience some dizziness when I stand up quickly or get out of bed in the morning. I wouldn’t call it dizziness, but I did feel a little different and kinda weak in the legs if I stood up too fast. Then yesterday the pharmacist called to see if the new pills were OK. He talked about dizziness too and said it should go away in about a week. Something about the body getting used to the change. Nice to get a call, never had the pharmacist call, must have been a slow Sunday. Anyway, got up this morning and the light headedness/weakness was gone and hopefully for a long time.
And while the rest of the world deals with various problems, we just deal with very strong wind.

Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
Familiar Misquotes Series IV
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
Difficulty:
 (2.22/4)
Whenever a phrase or sentence becomes part of the common language, there is a strong possibility that it will be quoted inaccurately.

Over the course of time, a letter gets shifted or a word is changed and forevermore the quotation becomes a cliche that nobody ever gets quite right.

Try to complete each proverbial cliche:

1.) " I only regret that I have but one life to ______ for my country." - Nathan Hale

2.) "Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no ______ ."

3.) "Music hath charms to soothe ______ ." - William Congreve

2 jokes for the day
Sometimes when I'm driving, I know I want to change lanes. I'm just not sure which lane I want. So I turn on my hazard lights.

I may be going left, I may be going right ... either way, you have been warned.

Father in a conversation with a neighbor...

First son: Degree in Economics

Third son: PhD
Fourth son: Thief

Neighbor: Why can't you throw the fourth son out of your house?

Father: He is the only one earning money. The rest are unemployed.

Yep, It Really Happened
Politico -- Hardly a "Do-Nothing" Congress
In March, U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas, chairman of the House Rules Committee, introduced a resolution to recognize "magic" as one of America's "national treasure(s)," backed by a 711-word paean urging all to "support and protect" the storied craft -- which needs to be "understood and promulgated," especially given that, according to Sessions, it "requires only the capacity to dream." Sessions made no link of magic to resolving other congressional business (such as, for instance, ending the string of 64 consecutive failed votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act).

Somewhat Useless Information
The word perfume originates from the Latin word per fumum, which means "through smoke."

In 2007, Italian archaeologists claimed to have sniffed out the world's oldest perfumes on the island reputed to be the birthplace of Aphrodite. Remnants of the perfumes were extracted from an ancient factory that was part of a larger complex at Pyrgos.

Common ingredients added to perfumes include ginger, grapefruit, musk, peppercorns, mandarin peel, fig leaves, rose, watercress, bamboo, clementine, vanilla, honeysuckle, and green tea.

To preserve perfumes, it is best to keep them in light, tight aluminum bottles and to refrigerate them at low temperatures between 3-7 degrees Celsius.

Perfume fragrances last longer on people with oily skin because their skin has more natural moisture content to hold the fragrance.

Chanel No. 5 perfume has been around since 1921 and is the company's most popular perfume. They estimate that one bottle is sold worldwide every 55 seconds.

Ways to Spot an American Abroad
 Talking to Strangers
Granted, not all Americans do this, but for the ones who do, it's an immediate signal that you're from the U.S. It's not the accent that comes out when you open your mouth, it's the fact that you opened your mouth in the first place. American friendliness is a little different than what you see elsewhere.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
