My Rambling Thoughts
Yesterday was very busy. I had my weekly shopping and then Mary decided that she would rather do lunch Wed as Cheryl is sick with a cold. By the time I got home I was too lazy to do the blog.
Today is still a little chilly and windy…can’t wait for spring to return to our little mountain town.
I did some quick run arounds today, but only made a few stops, the wind was too chilly for my taste…more tomorrow when the wind stops.
I hope that everyone heard the abortion thing by the GOP front-runner. Very scary, and can’t be pulled back. This is 2016, not 1816.

*-- Man Appears In Court In Spider-Man Costume --*
Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can, if that included kicking tourists for not giving him a tip. This particular web-slinger, Abdelamine el-Khezzani, is the kind of Spider-Man who gives the costumed characters who stalk Times Square in New York a bad name. For the second time in months he appeared in court for assault charges. This time it was for kicking a Virginia woman who wouldn't tip him after he posed for pictures with her kids. el-Khezzani said that he told Rodney Merrill and Margaretta Patman that he worked for tips, but after the pics were snapped and the tourists attempted to walk away, that is when Spidey got aggressive. el-Khezzani wore his Spidey costume to court where Justice Laura Ward told him, "Have you heard the expression 'Three strikes and you're out'? If you come to the plate and you strike out a third time, you're out" Ward warned el-Khezzani that if he is arrested again, "bail will be set so high that you won't be able to get out." Outside the Manhattan Criminal Court building el-Khezzani struck a Spider-Man pose for cameras and told a reporter that he was innocent. It is not reported whether he asked the reporter for a tip after his picture was taken.

Somewhat Useless Information
The earliest known types of knitting by nomadic people in the desert places of North Africa actually used circular or narrow, oblong wooden frames.

One of the earliest known examples of knitting (formed on two sticks by pulling loops through loops) were a pair of cotton socks found in Egypt from the first millennium A.D.

The knitting machine was invented in 1589 (during the reign of Queen Elizabeth) by William Lee, a clergyman. After the invention of the knitting machine, knitting was gradually taken over by guild-organized cottage industries in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Knitting first appeared in England during the 13th century in the form of felted caps that were worn by soldiers and sailors. However, knitting did not become a popular method for creating other garments due to the difficulty of producing quality steel needles

Early knitting needles were typically made from bone, ivory, or tortoise shell.

Changes in fashion in the late 1980s and early 1990s, as well as the huge influx of cheap imported knitwear, led to decreased interest in knitting. The cost of buying yarn compared unfavorably to buying ready-made clothes.

Tipping
Tipping is important in America because most waiters make less than $3 an hour and rely on tips to pay their rent. However, most other countries actually make restaurants pay their employees. Tipping is baffling across most of Europe, for instance.

natgeocreative Here is my night amongst the Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. This is a good place to be haunted, to spend a night, as I did, wishing to see something not quite visible, of another realm and time#ancient and antiquated, geologic and archeologic — and so very mystical. I didn’t mean to. I went to see the sunset over the 5,000 year old stone circle, where Neolithic people set their minds in harmony with creation. The sunset was lovely. (That’s about all I can say for it.) But the night held me inthralled through the hours of near darkness (summer in Lewis is like that) until sometime around 4:00 in the morning, when the sky was waxing towards dawn, and hearing the first birdsong I felt the merest breath of air on my face, and with that the night was over. #scotland #whiskycountry

Yep, It Really Happened
*-- Carpet, clothes could soon clean themselves with light --*
MELBOURNE - Don't have time to do laundry? Just wear your dirty clothes in the sun.

It sounds like a joke, but new nanotechnology may make the technique a reality in the near future. Researchers in Australia have developed a way to integrate self-cleaning nanotechnology into textiles.

The technology is made possible by special nanostructures that break down organic matter when exposed to light. Scientists at Australia's RMIT University developed a technique for cheaply and efficiently growing these nanostructure on textiles.

The textiles are dipped in an array of solutions and within 30 minutes, nanostructures begin developing within the woven material. The nanostructures work by turning sunlight into electron energy. The energy transfer triggers a catalytic reaction that results in the degradation of organic matter.

Researchers believe the technology will pave the way for self-cleaning clothes, carpet and other textile products.

"The advantage of textiles is they already have a 3D structure so they are great at absorbing light, which in turn speeds up the process of degrading organic matter," researcher Rajesh Ramanathan said in a news release. "There's more work to do to before we can start throwing out our washing machines, but this advance lays a strong foundation for the future development of fully self-cleaning textiles."

Ramanathan and his colleagues detailed their latest research in the journal Advanced Materials Interfaces.

"Our next step will be to test our nano-enhanced textiles with organic compounds that could be more relevant to consumers, to see how quickly they can handle common stains like tomato sauce or wine," Ramanathan said.

Clapping for a performance is important, and if you take in any kind of show anywhere, it's appreciated. But Americans have a reputation for clapping everywhere—like at the movie theater, for performers who obviously can't hear you, or for planes making a smooth landing. That's not necessary anywhere, not even in the States. Stop it. Stop. Stop it.
