My Rambling Thoughts
Let it stop, Let it stop! So our little mountain town now has almost 2 feet of snow and it is still snowing. Got a call yesterday to remind me of a Dr. appt. this morning at 9a. So I shoveled the sidewalk of about 18” of snow, cleared the car of snow, drove to the Dr. It usually takes about 20 minutes. Today it took 40. Went to the office door to find it locked. Sat in the car until 9:45. No one came. It had stopped snowing so the drive home was good and much faster. Called and left a message to call to set up a new appt. No call so I guess they never came in. Oh well, glad I can stay home the rest of the day and enjoy the snow.

Multi-Word
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.

I am three words,
Two of them appear the same,
Two are pronounced the same.
One is the third person use of "capable" or "permit".
One means to sleep, but only for a bit.
The last word means a group of deer,
Perhaps now you can tell me, what words are here?

OMAHA - An Omaha man's lawsuit against a comedy club alleges he broke his leg while under the trance of a performing hypnotist. The lawsuit alleges William Bendorf, 38, attended the Doug T Hypnosis Show at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Omaha March 21, 2014, and was an audience participant called up on stage to be hypnotized by performer Doug Thompson. Richard Shicker, Bendorf's attorney, said Thompson believed the volunteers had been snapped out of their hypnotic states, but the plaintiff "was still under" the trance when he was told to return to his seat. "When he said 'Go back to your seats,' [Bendorf] looks out in the audience, sees an empty chair and walks toward it. He walks right off the stage," Shicker told the Omaha World-Herald. The fall broke Bendorf's leg, Shicker said. "It was very painful -- and it continues to be painful for him," Shicker said. "He was in that zone -- that sort-of unconscious state. He didn't snap out of it until he crashed to the ground." "It was definitely a rude awakening," Shicker said. The Funny Bone Comedy Club has 30 days to respond to the lawsuit. A manager at the club did not respond to the World-Herald's call for comment. Thompson's website says he takes measures to ensure the safety of participants in his shows. "I always respect each and every volunteer and never will let them spew out personal information or go past a certain point on stage," the website states.

Somewhat Useless Information
Salt has seasoned English in many ways. Because Romans put salt or brine on their vegetables, the word "salad" developed. Because Roman soldiers were given money to buy salt, "salary" was coined.

In promoting the Louisiana Purchase, President Thomas Jefferson cited reports of a "salt mountain" in the territory. "This mountain is said to be 180 miles long and 45 in width, composed of solid rock salt, without any trees or shrubs on it."

The adult human body contains about 250 grams of salt - about half a pound.

According to superstition, spilling salt can cause bad luck - an idea that may have originated with Leonardo da Vinci's painting "The Last Supper," which shows Judas Isariot knocking over a salt container.

Chicago is America's salty center, thanks to the Morton Salt Co. The company was owned by Joy Morton, a man who got his first name from the maiden name of his mother, Caroline Joy.

There is an enormous salt mine under the city of Detroit, about 1,200 feet below ground. According to Detroit Salt Co, the century-old mine spreads out more than 1,500 acres and has more than 100 miles of underground roads.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
