My Rambling Thoughts
Nice Saturday here in our little mountain
town.
Got a call yesterday that the head of our
discussion group could not be found. One couple had stopped by and there were a
couple of newspapers and a package on the doorstep. Another member of my group
called and wondered how to get ahold of him. The couple called back to day none
of the neighbors had seen him in several days. We decided to call the police
for a welfare check. About 30 minutes later they called back and said another
neighbor had seen an ambulance take him to the hospital ‘a few days ago’. I
called the hospital, they said he had been admitted, and connected me to his
room. No answer, so I called back and talked to the nurse’s station. Seems he
was being moved to ICU for a couple of days. I called him this morning, and while
he is really drugged up, I got that he had fallen on the ice, broken something
in his leg. I called both people and they are visiting him today. I’ll visit
tomorrow and try to get the nurse to expand on the injury. I know…HIPPA and all…but
I can usually deal with bureaucrats pretty well.
Enjoying a lazy day here at home. A little
windy but not that bad. It is amazing to me that when the East Coast gets a big
storm, it all there is on the news channels. A couple of weeks ago we had 2’+
with 30mph winds and a 20sec mention was all there was on National News. While
I get that larger population area have problems, so did we. Many of our stores
closed, the mall closed, roads were a mess, some lost power for a little while.
Oh well, I’ll take this town over any large population area anywhere.

Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
Death
In Cryptography teasers,
a phrase or expressions has been encoded in some way (frequently by replacing
letters with other letters). You need to figure out the encoding method and
then decode the message to find the answer.
There was a death on Treebark Ln.
The victim was identified as Mark Oswalt, who recently was married. The police
went to the crime scene and they reported the death as a suicide.
Later that day, after the police left, a private detective, hired by the
victim's friend who thought it was a murder, searched the crime scene and found
a note the police missed.
It read,
"4,3: 8,1:_: 9,1: 2,1: 7,4:_: 6,1:9,3:_: 9,1: 4,3: 3,3: 3,2: !"
The detective took out his cell phone and started dialing the police to tell
them about his findings. Once the detective opened the phone to dial, he
immediately screamed out, "I SOLVED IT!"
Who was the murderer and how did the detective find out?

…Business Facts…
The CEO of Japan Airlines makes
$90,000 a year, less than the pilots. During an interview, he said "We in
Japan learned during the bubble economy that businesses who pursue money first
fail. The business world has lost sight of this basic tenet of business
ethics."

2 jokes for the day
I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger... Then it hit me.
⋆ ⋆ ⋆⋆
A couple are sitting in their living
room, sipping wine. Out of the blue, the wife says, “I love you!”
“Is that you or the wine talking?” asks the husband.
“It’s me,” says the wife. “Talking to the wine.”

Yep, It Really Happened
FREDERICTON, New Brunswick - A group of
Canadian daredevils using bungee cords to aid their ski jumps caught video of a
high-speed crash caused by doubling up on bungees. The video, posted by James
Fitzpatrick, shows a skier in Fredericton, New Brunswick, attempt to use two
20-foot banshee bungee cords to propel him over a ski jump. The skier's high
speed quickly sends him out of control, and he can be seen falling
backside-first toward the earth. The uploader jokingly titled the video,
"Death by Banshee Bungee," but the skier was not injured. "We
decided one 20 foot long banshee bungee wasn't enough speed to clear the gap,
we doubled up and used two 20 footers.... this crash was the result!"
Fitzpatrick wrote.

Somewhat Useless Information
Dry Cleaning Bags: Use to pack suits, dresses and fine
clothing when traveling, this will help protect it from
wrinkles when packing. When storing the bags make sure to keep them safely out of
reach of children, they really are that dangerous.
Butter Wrappers: Once you've removed a block of butter from its
wrapping, place the wrapping in a plastic container or bag and refrigerate. Use
it to grease baking pans.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is
usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every
site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites
simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring
before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally
accurate.
