‡‡My Rambling Thoughts‡‡
Did my weekly shopping at Sam’s and Fry’s. Fresh fruit and salads for the week. Nice.

Never been a fan of FOX (Faux) News. The departure of O’Reilly means only that harassers will eventually be caught. I did turn on FOX to watch Sheppard and strangely, he hasn’t said a word about O’Reilly. Guess they believe if we don’t report it, it didn’t happen. Wonder how all the conservatives who watch that channel will react to their hero having feet of clay?

THIS IS NOT NORMAL:
Our President had to be corrected by a foreign reporter when he was talking about bombing Syria. He said ‘Iraq’ and she asked ‘You mean Syria?’ Hmmm.
Then a little later he talked about an ‘armada’ heading for the area near Korean Peninsula. Well, the ‘armada’ went to Australia for scheduled maneuvers. Hmmm. Then the press secretary said the ships would ‘eventually’ head toward the Korean Peninsula. Hmmm

‡‡ Joke For The Day‡‡
How many mystery writers does it take to change a light bulb?

Two, one to put it almost all the way in and the other to give it a surprising twist at the end…

Bonus Joke
Kyle and Justin were about to eat with their babysitter when 6-year-old Kyle said, "You can't sit in Daddy's seat!"

"Daddy's not home," the babysitter replied. "Since I'm responsible for you while he's gone, I can sit here. Today, I'm the boss."

Justin, the 4 year old, quickly piped up, "If you're the boss, you sit over there in Mommy's chair!"

‡‡Yep, It Really Happened‡‡
*----------------- Tanks a Lot -----------------*

A British man who buys and restores old tanks made a surprising discovery in a former Iraqi Army tank -- five gold bars worth about $1.4 million. Nick Mead, a collector and owner of Tanks A Lot, a tank restoration business, said he recently saw the Chinese Type 69 tank listed on eBay and he was able to barter it for a retired British Army truck and Abbot self-propelled howitzer. Todd Chamberlain, one of Mead's mechanics, was working on the restoration when he found evidence that one of the fuel tanks might be filled with guns, a common discovery with retired military tanks. Mead joined Chamberlain and started filming, a practice he said is common when restorers think they might find illegal guns and want to make sure they have evidence of the discovery to show police. The video shows the restorers reaching into the fuel tank and pulling out the foreign objects, which turn out to be five gold bars weighing a total of about 70 pounds -- $1.4 million in gold. Mead said the gold, which may have been stolen by the Iraqi Army during the invasion of Kuwait and forgotten inside the tank, was turned over to police. It's not yet clear what will eventually become of the discovery.

Peeps used to have wings. They were clipped in 1955, two years after the first marshmallow chicks hatched, to give the candy a sleeker, more "modern" look.

‡‡How our states were named‡‡
Washington

Named in honor of the first president of the United States, George Washington. In the eastern US, the state is referred to as Washington State or the state of Washington to distinguish it from the District of Columbia, which they usually just call “Washington”, "D.C." or, if they're very local, "the District." Washingtonians and other Pacific Northwesterners simply call the state “Washington” and refer to the national capital as “Washington, D.C.” or just “D.C.”

‡‡Trivia Hive  Answers‡‡
New Mexico
On the morning of July 16, 1945, the first atomic bomb was detonated. The test, code-named Trinity, was part of the larger Manhattan Project, an effort by the U.S. government to create a fully operational weapon that harnessed the power of a nuclear fission reaction. The completed bombs were dropped later that year on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, respectively. Japanese forces surrendered that same month, ending World War II. All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
