‡‡My Rambling Thoughts‡‡
Mondays are not my favorite day of the week. Pharmacy doesn’t have my script ready, maybe tomorrow. Taxes won’t be ready until tomorrow. All OK but I have a teeth cleaning tomorrow and as we know, timing is everything. Taxes will have to be by appointment. Script won’t be ready until afternoon. Cleaning is at 9a. Guess I will be driving around tomorrow. All three are within 10 blocks of each other and I had hoped to do it all at once. No such luck.
THIS IS NOT NORMAL:
I have always believed in the separation of power our constitution calls for. Because of that I found it a little off-putting that the new Associate Judge was sworn in AT THE WHITE HOUSE. It’s not the first time, but for some reason Republicans seem to like to have the spotlight. Most Presidents have had a reception at the White House after the swearing in, but this time the reception and swearing in were at the same time. Oh well, just old geezer status.

‡‡Yep, It Really Happened‡‡
*------------- Drunk Lives Matter -------------*

A Pennsylvania man wearing a T-shirt that says "Drunk Lives Matter" was charged with DUI by Newville police. 44-year-old Elwood R Gutshall, wearing a green St. Patrick's Day T-shirt, was charged March 19 with DUI after police said he committed several traffic violations. His blood alcohol level was found to be 0.217 percent. He was charged with the highest level of DUI, driving under suspension and traffic violations.

‡‡Somewhat Useless Information‡‡
The fact that Hyperion is still around today is sheer luck. Only a few hundred feet from its base is a clear-cut dating back to the 70s. Clearcutting is a forestry practice in which all trees in an area are logged and the entire area is devastated. Mere weeks before the loggers reached the majestic giant, the valley it calls home was declared a national park during the Carter administration.

However, most redwoods were not so lucky. In the 1970s, 15 percent of America's redwood forest had been logged, and nowadays only 4 percent still exist.

‡‡How our states were named‡‡
Oklahoma
Oklahoma is a combination of the Choctaw words ukla (“person”) and humá (“red”). The word was used by the Choctaw to describe Native Americans, “red persons.” Allen Wright, chief of the Choctaw Nation from 1866 to 1870, suggested the name in 1866 during treaty negotiations with the federal government over the use of the Indian Territory. When the Indian Territory was whittled down to what is now Oklahoma, the new territory took its name from the Choctaw word.

The ancient city of Machu Picchu is located in the Andes Mountains in Peru. Created by the Incan Empire at the height of its power, the breathtaking ruins are now a popular attraction for adventurous tourists and history buffs alike. There are about 200 remaining structures at Machu Picchu, which was built in the 15th century and then abandoned in the 16th century after the Spaniards conquered the Incan people. Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
