My Rambling Thoughts
Today is my service comp date…something long time Federal employees have emblazed in their memory. Today, in 1971, I started my career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. I had a wonderful opportunity to meet so many people, learn so much about a different culture.  I could have never imagined, as I stood in Gallup and raised my right hand and took the oath to be a good American, what was in store. Thirty-six years, teaching, supervising, and enjoying my career. I worked with motivated students and teachers…who only wanted to give students a choice. I still see people from my early teaching days…both students and staff. It was a great career I wouldn’t trade for anything.

On a much sadder note, today, in 1994, my father passed at 80 years old, following a short illness. My mom, brother, and I were with him, along with the priest whom my parents truly loved. My dad prepared my brother and I for a good life, good morals, good ethics, and true happiness.  He also took good care of my mother, even after his passing. She was able to live a high quality life for the rest of her years. All this time later I still miss him and think of him often.

Finished the carpet shampooing by doing the upstairs this morning. So nice to have clean carpet throughout the house. So glad I got the new shampooer…it will be using much more often than I used the old one.  I did cheat a little in that I didn’t move the heavy furniture this time, but will next time.

Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
Poor George
Mystery teasers are little stories where you need to figure out what happened based on the given clues.
George is dead. He was found face down in the street, squashed nearly flat. He must have been there some time as he was cool to the touch. In addition, when he was found, there was a bird perched on the back of his head.

Who is George?

Mine Isn't Stuck

During training exercises, the Lieutenant was driving down a muddy back road when he encountered another car stuck in the mud, with a red-faced Colonel at the wheel.

"Your jeep stuck, sir?" asked the Lieutenant as he pulled alongside.

"Nope," replied the Colonel, coming over and handing him the keys, "Yours is!"

Brain Teasers Answers
The George in question is George Washington, specifically the picture of Washington on the quarter. He was, in fact, dead when he was found. As he is on a coin, he would be nearly flat, and cool to the touch. Finally, when you turn the quarter over, on the "back of the head" you will find a perching eagle.

If you're an adult, you probably don't get a summer vacation unless you are either a teacher or a member of Congress. This summer, Congress took a seven-week summer break and came back to a pile of unfinished work like the Zika virus issue and annual budgets and they better work fast. Congress is also taking off the month of October which means just a few more weeks to cram it all in. Source: Fox News

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
