My Rambling Thoughts
Another hot day. The great weather guy sez it will be hot for the rest of the week. And it will remain dry. A new forest fire on the Peaks, just north of our town. Means more smoke. And lots of water hydration.

Thank you Medicare. They pay for an annual exam to update me about what my body is doing as it ages. Got a good report today. Yes I am getting old-er, but am doing it gracefully with everything under good control. Even get to decrease my thyroid meds by ½. That’s nice.

Lots of hype over the Megan Kelly interview with Crazy Guy Jones on NBC last night. Hate to see crazy people get a forum, but she did a better than decent job in shutting him down. Did notice no news on CNN regarding the interview. She made her point.

Awaiting our elected Congress to open their eyes and ears and find a way to stop the current President from telling the American people so many lies. I just have a gnawing feeling in my gut that all the Twitter crap is just to get people to believe that media is untrustworthy, so when he gives out an executive order to cut off the press, all his minions will cheer. Maybe that has already started with a press conference today where no cameras and no audio recordings were allowed. Now Sean can say anything and if Don doesn’t like the report, he will just claim fake news and there will no longer be anything to back up the press. Frightening.

Yep, It Really Happened
She Might Have Killed It, But She Didn't Eat It

A vegetarian had no choice but to kill an animal suffering from rabies with her bare hands. 21-year-old Rachel Borch from Hope, Maine said that she was jogging in the woods near her home when a raccoon appeared in front of her. Borch instantly knew that the raccoon was infected with rabies as it was foaming from its mouth. After a few moments of growling at her, the raccoon went on the attack, biting her thumb. Borch began swinging the animal, but it refused to let go. Luckily, there was a puddle nearby so Borch forced the raccoon’s head into the puddle of rainwater. After a few seconds, the raccoon lost consciousness and Borch was able to pull her thumb out of the animal. Borch quickly ran home, and her mother Elizabeth, drove her to the hospital. Borch said that despite being vegetarian she had to kill the animal with her bare hands in self-defense.

LOCAL BONUS
On June 18, 2017, at about 8:17a.m., a trooper responded to the report of a male subject lying down in the median, northbound along I-17 at milepost 325. The same report advised he had been involved in a possible domestic violence situation.
When our trooper arrived on-scene, he stopped behind a black BMW sedan that was blocking traffic lane #1. A nude man ran towards his patrol vehicle and began striking it with his fists multiple times. Our trooper drove away from the enraged man and stopped in front of the sedan; while doing so, be observed a passenger inside of the BMW. The naked man then entered the BMW and began ramming our trooper’s patrol vehicle numerous times.
The man then fled from the scene in the BMW and drove wrong-way, northbound along the southbound lanes of I-17 for over a mile. The naked driver lost control of the vehicle, traveled into the shoulder, reentered the southbound lanes and then back into the northbound lanes.
Since our patrol vehicle was disabled from the numerous impacts it received from the BMW, our trooper was unable to keep up with it and lost sight of it around milepost 329, northbound. The BMW ran into a rock embankment and rolled-over at milepost 331. The naked male driver was taken into custody without further incident.
Our trooper, a 16-year veteran, sustained moderate injury and is home recovering.
The naked man and his four-year-old son [the passenger our trooper observed] were transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center for minor bruises and abrasions; both were treated and released.
The Arizona Department of Child Safety was called to assist us with the investigation. The young boy was reunited with his mother at the hospital.
The naked man was identified as Montrais Boyd Sr. of Westminster, California. Boyd was booked into the Coconino County jail for aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, felony endangerment, child abuse and criminal damage charges.

Somewhat Useless Information
In 1832, U.K. representative B.H. Hodson, while living in Nepal, claimed to have seen the Abominable Snowman attack his servants. Hodson described the creature as a "wild man covered in long, dark hair, and had no tail". This is generally considered the first report of the Abominable Snowman made by a Westerner.

The National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils are named after The Jersey Devil, a legendary creature who has reportedly been sighted by numerous New Jersey residents for almost three centuries, but whose description has changed dramatically over the years. Originally described as a demonic child with hooves, bat wings, a forked tail, and the head of a horse, the creature has since been described as a flying lion, a green alien-like monster, and a faceless hairy creature.
***
In the summer of 1816, while visiting the poet Lord Byron at his villa near Lake Geneva in Switzerland, Mary Shelley created the character of the Frankenstein monster. During this visit, stormy weather forced the party to spend most of their time indoors. To pass the time, some of Byron's other guests read from a volume of ghost stories. One evening, Byron issued a challenge - that each of his guests should write a ghost story of their own. Mary's story, which was inspired by a dream, eventually became her most famous literary work - the novel Frankenstein.

Martha Stewart
He may be forever linked to the 2016 election, but before that, Comey prosecuted Martha Stewart in a case that eventually led to her conviction in 2004. Found guilty of insider trading, Stewart served only a few months. Even though it was big news at the time, her stint in the slammer doesn't seem to have hurt her business empire or brand name all that much, especially now that she's joined forces with Snoop Dogg.
