‡‡My Rambling Thoughts‡‡
Cool and very breezy day at 7000’. Woke up to another dusting of snow. I want my spring back.

Our discussion group meets tomorrow evening to discuss what is going on in Latin America. Should be a good discussion. Started the reading this morning.  Ever heard of the political ‘pink tide’ in Latin American politics. Well, I hadn’t, so have some catching up to do.

I had to smile as our Presidential Family boarded Air Force I. I have done a fair amount of International Travel, and I always have a safari jacket filled with necessities like passport, camera, $$, etc. And I always have a carry-on bag. Then I see the President, 1st Lady, 1st daughter, and 1st son-in-law walk on the plane with no travel necessities. Must be a great way to travel.

I am hopeful that his trip is a success for all of America. Sure would be nice to have peace in the Middle East, and NATO embracing our leader, and the Pope not scolding him.  I would rather dream about hopeful things than have nightmares about how this will all work out.

‡‡Yep, It Really Happened‡‡
*- There Are Better Things To Do With a Tongue -*

A New York man set a new world record by extinguishing more than 30 matches with his tongue in a minute. Ashrita Furman, who holds more than 200 Guinness World Records, claimed the new title for "most matchsticks extinguished with the tongue in 1 minute." Furman, 61, sat at a table at the Sri Chinmoy Centre in Jamaica and individually lit a total of 37 matches and extinguished them on his tongue to surpass the previous record of 30. He was only permitted to extinguish one match at a time and was prohibited from using his breath to blow them out. Last year, Furman completed a similar feat to add to his lengthy list of records by extinguishing 44 blow torches with his tongue.

‡‡Somewhat Useless Information‡‡
On average, humans sleep three hours less than other primates. Chimps, rhesus monkeys, and baboons sleep ten hours per night.
***
When we sleep, we drift between rapid-eye movement (REM) sleep and non-REM sleep in alternating 90-minute cycles.

***
Elephants stand while they're dozing in non-REM sleep, but once REM sleep kicks in, they lie down. Ducks are constantly at risk of being attacked by predators, so they keep half their brain awake while they sleep.

Earth Day
On April 22, 2017, which also happened to be Earth Day, crowds around the globe took part in the March for Science. In an effort to speak out against President Donald Trump's talk of making budget cuts related to agencies that fund scientists, demonstrators from the U.S. to New Zealand let their voices be heard through rallying and picketing. "What do we want? Evidence-based science! When do we want it? After peer review!" some New Zealand participants yelled. Source: CNN

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
