Today’s Reflection:
Another nice fall day. No complaints.
Richard and Laura are busy
today…checking out a hacienda nearby that will help their ‘overflow’ issue when
they have a large gathering. Nice. They haven’t made a decision about the
Chinese Hybrid but are impressed with several they have looked at.
Historical events
Cool to know:
Fact: Sudan has more
pyramids than any country in the world
What is … a totally
strange Jeopardy! question
about geography? Not only have
archaeologists found more pyramids in Sudan than Egypt, but the numbers aren’t
even close. While somewhere around 100 pyramids have been discovered in Egypt
(some sources put the number at 118), the number of those found in Sudan is
around 255—more than double.

First, you build a
rocket. Then you ask it to leave Earth, fly to the moon, survive the trip and
bring its spacecraft home. Simple, right? Well, not quite. World Space Week,
observed every 4-10 October, celebrates the science that makes missions like
this possible. The United Nations established the observance in 1999 to
commemorate Sputnik 1"s launch on 4 October 1957, and the entry into force
of the Outer Space Treaty on 10 October 1967. This year"s theme,
"Rocket Revolution," focuses on the evolving technology driving space
exploration.
Interesting Space Facts:
There are more volcanoes
on Venus than on any other planet in our solar system.
There are more than
1,600 major volcanoes across the surface of Venus, including a 5-mile (8 km)
high volcano called Maat Mons.
However, none of these
volcanoes are known to be erupting at present and most are probably long
extinct.
