My Thoughts for the day
Another blue-sky day. Nice!
I had a nice conversation with my brother in Mexico. Things are going
well. They are having friends over for Christmas, just a small gathering of
about 10. Laura’s sister isn’t going to make it either. She is busy in NYC and
said the plane fare for a few days was very expensive. The hacienda continues to
rain, even though it is usually dry at this time of year.
The Smithsonian Institute has been seen as a beacon of education since
its inception. Donnie thinks it is too woke and has listed a series of
instructions to ensure that they continue to receive dollars set by Congress.
Dear Leader believes those dollars are NOT to the benefit of America. The
Smithsonian has not yet responded to these off-the-wall demands
As more information comes out, it is beginning to appear that Donald met
Melania through their mutual friend, Mr. Epstein. Maybe that’s why Trump doesn’t
want all the files released. So far, no criminal activity has been mentioned
toward either Donnie or Melania.
Classic songs that unlock deep nostaligia…
“Yesterday” taps into nostalgia and the
sting of things lost
Sparse instrumentation lets the
melancholy do its own heavy lifting. “Yesterday” plays like a sigh under
breath, delicate and familiar, its arrangement nearly translucent.
For Boomers, it’s often the cue for a
mental slideshow: past relationships, college dorms, late-night breakups. The
song presses on memory like a fingertip to glass—light, but unmistakably
present wherever loss lingered unspoken.
Cities that changed their names…
Hafnarfjörður
(Iceland)
A small
fishing town near Reykjavík, once known simply as Hafnar, this community
modernized its spelling and name in the early 20th century to reflect Icelandic
language reforms. “Hafnarfjörður” (meaning “harbor fjord”) sounds complicated
to outsiders, but to Icelanders, it’s natural music.
The update symbolizes how even small towns can evolve with language, keeping
history intact while staying alive in modern speech.
Random Thoughts…
Would we
behave differently if we were given a different name?
The
greatest luxury is having true friends. A man’s greatest quality is his ability
to be a true friend.
Having a
few true friends is more valuable than being in the company of many fake
people.
Your
chosen family, as well as your true family, are your friends.
