❆❆My Rambling Thoughts❆❆
Got a good report from the blood doc. Guess that CPAP machine is working
at this high altitude. Better news is that I don’t see him again for 6 months.
Finally got through to the CA tax lady. I have to file a CA tax return,
and fax her the K-1 information to get this mess straightened out. Call H&R
and got an appointment for Friday. Not excited because the guy who does my
taxes has officially retired and when I tell them I need someone who knows
about K-1’s, they say ‘well, I know about them but if we need help we can call
another office.’ Not my idea of confidence. Guess I better get busy looking for
a new tax preparer. Boo.

J. .K. Rowling became the first author to make it to Forbes’ billionaire
list – thanks to her super successful “Harry Potter” book series and the film
and marketing empire based on it. She did drop out of the list in 2012 but for
a very noble cause – charity. The author is known for giving a huge chunk of
her wealth to charity and has stated, “You have a moral responsibility when
you’ve been given far more than you need, to do wise things with it and give
intelligently.”

❆❆2 Jokes For The Day❆❆
A pick pocket was pronounced guilty and sentenced to pay a $200 fine by
the judge.
His defense lawyer, knowing that his client could not pay the fine,
pleaded with the judge asking, “Your honor, my client can only afford $50. But
if you allow him a few minutes in the crowd…"

“Didn’t you suspect burglars had been in the house when you saw all the
drawers pulled out and the contents scattered all over the floor?” asked the policeman.
“No," began the wife, "I just thought my husband had been looking for
a clean shirt.”

❆❆Yep, It Really Happened❆❆
The New Year also brought a new sight for residents of La La Land on
Sunday. The famous "Hollywood" sign in the hills over Los Angeles
read slightly differently -- "Hollyweed." Someone made the changes to
the iconic Los Angeles landmark by obscuring parts of the double-'o' to make
them appear as a double-'e.' The Los Angeles Police Department, which has
jurisdiction over the sign, said surveillance video has indicated that a lone
individual made the change. Incidentally, this isn't the first time the sign
read "Hollyweed." The same change was made exactly 41 years ago, on
the same date -- New Year's Day -- in 1976 by an art student as part of a
project assignment. That was also the day California law changed to make
possession of marijuana, up to an ounce, a misdemeanor rather than a felony.

❆❆Somewhat Useless Information❆❆
At MIT in 1962, Steve Russell programmed the world's first video game on a
bulky computer known as the DEC PDP-1. Spacewar featured spaceships fighting
amid an astronomically correct screen full of stars. By the end of the decade,
nearly every research computer in the United States had a copy of Spacewar on
it.

Nolan Bushnell founded Atari in 1972, taking the company's name from the
Japanese word for the chess term "check." Atari released the
coin-operated Pong later that year, and it became an instant arcade hit.
***
In 1985, Tetris found success in the Soviet Union (even in spite of the
Cold War), and the following year it took over the U.S. market. The game was
invented by Soviet mathematician Alexi Pajitnov.
***
Released in 1978, Midway's Space Invaders was the arcade equivalent of
Star Wars. A year later, Atari released Asteroids and outdid Space Invaders by
enabling the high scorer to enter his or her initials for posterity.
***
The 1980 Midway classic Pac-Man is the world's most successful arcade
game, selling some 99,000 units. The game inspired rap songs, Saturday morning
cartoons, and a slew of sequels.

In 1980, Nintendo's first game, Donkey Kong, marked the debut of Mario.
Originally dubbed Jumpman, Mario was named for Mario Segali, the onetime owner

Never
The band has yet to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
much to the chagrin of its fans. In 2011, Bon Jovi came close, earning a spot
on the ballot. However, the group failed to make the final cut and has been
left off of every ballot since. When radio host Howard Stern asked lead singer
Jon Bon Jovi about the snub earlier this year, the rock legend didn't hold
back. "The criteria is actually that your music had an influence on
generations that came after you, and that it's still out and very present,"
he said. "Yeah, we have every criteria." Source: NJ.com.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is
usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every
site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites
simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring
before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally
accurate.
