❆❆My
Rambling Thoughts❆❆
Same
old, same old…rain, snow, rain, not too cold.
Surprised
at my mixed emotions on the announcement that the Ringling Brothers/Barnum-Bailey
circus is shutting down. As a young child I remember seeing animals from around
the world for the first time. A very memorable experience for sure. I also
remember the crazy clowns and the very frightening high wire acts. As a young
adult, I too took kids to the circus. They had good experiences too. I am sad
that kids won’t get that experience anymore. On the other side, I have seen
many of the circus animals in the wild in Africa. That is where they should be,
and not in the cages of the circus. I have to wonder if I hadn’t been to the
circus, if I would have been able to enjoy Africa in the same way. And I
realize that many children here will never have the experience of an African
Photo Safari.
I
really enjoyed the childhood trips to the zoo. That too prepared me for Africa.
Weighing the educational experience of thousands of children and adults against
the understanding that these animals should be free to live and die in Africa is
difficult. Many of the zoo and circus animals would never have made it to
adulthood without being caged. The question: is that really living?
Finally,
on the circus closing…what will happen to all the animals that are in the
circus and only know circus life? No word on that yet. Also, what about all the
performers. I don’t think there is a big job market for high wire performers,
or clowns, or roustabouts. What will
they do after being in the circus life for so many years?

Teasers❆❆
(answers
at the end of post)
Hidden Colors
Language brain teasers are those that involve
the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
Hidden
in each sentence is a word. For example, in the sentence: When I grow up, I
want to be a ranger. (Hidden animal) The hidden word is BEAR from "to BE A
Ranger". Now, try to identify the hidden colors in the sentences below:
I agree not to eat all the food.
Bob decided to jump in, knowing that this is his only choice.
The sunset makes Cairo seem magnificent.
Some states ship lumber and coal on canal barges.

❆❆2 Jokes
For The Day❆❆
A
six-year-old boy called his mother from his friend Charlie's house and
confessed he had broken a lamp when he threw a football in their living room.
"But, Mom," he said, brightening, "you don't have to worry about
buying another one. Charlie's mother said it was irreplaceable."

To
the irritation of the judge, a man was trying to be excused from jury duty.
"Tell me," began the judge, "is there any good reason why you
cannot serve as a juror in the trial?"
The man replied, "I don't want to be away from my job that long."
"Can't they do without you at work?" demanded the judge.
"Yes," admitted the juror. "But I don't want them to realize
it."

Dog Kept Owner Warm for 20 Hours -------*
A Michigan dog helped keep her owner alive by warming his body in freezing
conditions after he slipped on snow. Kelsey the golden retriever stayed with
her owner Bob for nearly 20 hours after he slipped and injured his neck while
getting a log for his fire on New Year's Eve. Bob called for his neighbors, but
only Kelsey responded to his call and immediately began to protect her owner
from the 24 degree cold. "Kelsey was licking him and barking at him and
pawing at him. I can see marks on his arm from her pawing at him," his
daughter Jenny said. Bob's neighbor Rick eventually stopped by to borrow some
eggs and discovered Kelsey still protecting his unconscious body. Bob was
immediately taken to a hospital where he received neurosurgery. "I don't
think he would be living unless the dog were there. The dog kept him
warm." the neurosurgeon said. The surgery was successful and Kelsey was
there immediately after to greet her beloved owner.

Vermont
Poor
Vermont. After Bill Clinton visited during his first term in 1995, it took
nearly two decades for another presidential drop by. In his entire presidency,
it was the only state that he didn't visit and it wasn't until 2012 that Obama
came by. Although it isn't really a big surprise that George W. Bush never made
it over there. The state is so blue, it probably would have given him frostbite!

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with
at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes
and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is

calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
