❆❆My Rambling Thoughts❆❆
Got a call from my old boss and had lunch with him and his wife. Nice way
to start off the new year. They spent the holiday in St. Thomas and had some
great stories. While there we ran into his old secretary and her grandkids…it’s
the 1st of the month, so kids always show up to spend Grandma’s
money. Nice to see her. Haven’t seen her in decades, but she acted like we were
old friends. Felt good.
We are having more rain/snow/rain today. Really, very strange weather
for January. But as we all know, global warming is a myth. If it just snowed,
like the olden days, we would have about a foot plus of snow on the ground from
just the last few days...

❆❆Brain Teasers❆❆
(answers at the end of post)
Letter Logic
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick
that makes them really easy.
I am a letter.
I am in talk, and in stop,
I am in tickle, and in tackle,
I am in bullet, and kite,
I am in poster, and in tear,
I am in torn, and in fear,
I am in tick, and in stock,
I am in tulip, but I'm also in by.
What am I?

❆❆2 Jokes For The Day❆❆
“How are you getting on with your exams?”
“Not bad. The questions are easy enough, it’s the answers I'm having trouble with.”

“Oh no, not leftovers again!” complained my older sister when she saw
the leftover meatloaf on the table from last night's supper.
“Young lady,” responded my father sternly, “do you know how many people would
love to have a delicious supper like this? You should be ashamed of yourself.
Now before we start eating I want to hear you say grace thanking the Lord for
this delicious meal.”
“Thank you Lord for this delicious supper,” muttered my sister submissively,
“….again!”

❆❆Somewhat Useless Information❆❆
According to old English and German folklore, the first person you come
across in the new year could set the tone for the next 12 months. The superstition
doesn't just apply to singles-if a couple ringing in the new year together
doesn't lock lips, then the future of their relationship might not be all that
bright.
***
The top 10 New Year resolutions are usually to lose weight, eat more
healthily, exercise more, stop smoking, stick to a budget, save money, get more
organized, be more patient, find a better job and to just be a better person
over all.
***
In Colombia, Cuba and Puerto Rico, some families stuff a large doll,
which is called Mr. Old Year, with memories from the past year. They also dress
him in clothes from the outgoing year. At midnight, he is set ablaze, thus
burning away the bad memories.
***
It's good luck to eat foods like black eyed peas, ham and cabbage
because it is thought they bring prosperity. But if you want to have a happy
new year, don't eat lobster or chicken. Lobsters can move backward and chickens
can scratch in reverse, so it is thought these foods could bring a reversal of
fortune.
***
January: named after Janus, the god of doors and gates.
***
The earliest Latin calendar was a 10-month one, beginning with March;
thus, September was the seventh month, October, the eighth, etc. July was
originally called Quintilis, meaning fifth; August was originally called
Sextilis, meaning sixth.

The Empire State Building
95.0% got this right on the internet machine
The iconic final battle with King Kong is so memorable that the Empire
State Building turned down its lights to salute actress Fay Wray after her
death in 2004. Kong's size is actually a few feet larger in the New York scenes
than earlier in the movie. This was done to keep him in proportion to the giant
buildings of the city. Like many classic movies, it's been remade multiple
times, with "Kong: Skull Island" debuting in 2017. Long live the
King! Source: Mental Floss

agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is
usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every
site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites
simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring
before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally
accurate.
