My Rambling Thoughts
Nice beginning to a new week. Temps have warmed a little and it’s nice to be outside for a while.

Good news from the #NODAPL front. The final permit was denied, for more study. This is not over. It is interesting that today was the day that the ND gov’t had said the camp needed to be cleared and that many, up to 1000, Vets had arrived to protect the water protectors AND now the mainstream media is reporting. The cynical believe that the press showed up with their satellite dishes and live feed material in case there was violence as the camp was dismantled. Now they all those media people and are spending time interviewing the protectors. FINALLY! This can all change on the inauguration day as Trump has a couple million invested in this pipeline. Or NOT.

We have 4 trash bins in the area surrounding the commons area.  I was excited about a month ago when they turned one of the areas into a recycle area. The bin is bright green and is clearly marked RECYCLE. People take time to adjust to change. Up until this week the units closest to the new recycle bin continued to use it for trash while others put in recycling stuff. It was overloaded days before the recycle trash truck came. It became quite the eyesore. Now in the last week, it looks like people have adjusted. I will now start using it for recycling my papers and aluminum cans. Saves me a drive to the local recycle bins. Nice!

Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
Going Crackers
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.

A cracker company was very mad when they heard the results from their cracker survey. The result said that the customers would prefer crackers to nothing at all. The same customers think that donuts are better than everything else.

A new employee at the company had to tell their boss the bad news, but he saw a window of opportunity to get a promotion. When he got to his boss, he told him that the customers really preferred crackers to donuts.

How did he come up with that?

2 jokes for the day
“I’ve never flown before," said the nervous old lady to the pilot. “You will bring me down safely, won’t you?"

“All I can say ma’am,” said the pilot, “is that I’ve never left anyone up there yet!”

My older son loves school, but his younger brother absolutely hates it. One weekend he cried and fretted and tried every excuse not to go back on Monday. Sunday morning on the way home from church, the crying and whining built to a crescendo.

At the end of my rope, I finally stopped the car and explained, "Honey, it’s a law. If you don’t go to school, they’ll put Mommy in jail."

He looked at me, thought a moment, then asked, "How long would you have to stay?"

Somewhat Useless Information
Sushi chefs have one of the most difficult training of all professional chefs. They must know how to prepare raw seafood, know which fish contain harmful parasites, and know how to eliminate parasites. They must also know about biochemical changes that happen after seafood is slaughtered.
***
A sushi chef traditionally could work in a restaurant only after training for 10 years. However, modern sushi chiefs can start working after just 2 years of training.
***
Sushi is commonly thought of as an aphrodisiac because two common sushi fish, salmon and mackerel, are high in omega-3s, which are fatty acids that aid in sex-hormone production. Additionally, tuna is a source of selenium, which helps increase a male's sperm count.
***
Bluefin tuna populations have dropped more than 96 percent, primarily due to increasing sushi demands. Most of the blue fin tuna fishing occurs off the coast of Japan, which has very few limits on tuna fishing.
***
The most expensive price ever for a sushi-grade bluefin tuna was $1.8 million for a 222-kilogram fish in Japan. Over 80 percent of the world's declining tuna stock are eaten by the Japanese.
***
Fugu is a famous type of sushi made from puffer fish. Fugu is particularly difficult to prepare because the organs of the puffer fish produce a lethal neurotoxin that is 1,200 times more toxic than cyanide. Chefs must receive a special license to prepare fugu, and the emperor of Japan is forbidden from even tasting it.

Amarillo
The establishment, a tribute to classic Texan food and style, first opened in 1960. It's perhaps best known for the 72 oz. steak challenge, in which competitors must eat a full steak dinner in less than an hour or pay $72. The restaurant, as well as its contest, has been both honored and parodied in film and television. It also includes a motel. Source: Big Texan

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
