My Rambling Thoughts
Dental
appointment…replace an old filling…amazing…he used a laser with no pain shot.
Took about 25 minutes and I was out and didn’t have to wait for the numbness to
disappear. Sadly, it only works when metal is not involved, so the crown job
next week still needs the numbing shot. Oh well.
Fall
is here so spent some time on the deck, cleaning up the pine needles and
getting stuff ready for winter. Still have to decide if I should plant some
more bulbs in the planters. Last Spring the bulbs sent out sprouts, broke the
ground and made some nice leaves…then a cold spell hit so never had any
flowers. Still have some time to decide.

2 jokes for the day
What's
Wrong Doc?
A
man walks into the psychiatrist’s office with a zucchini up his nose, a
cucumber in his left ear, and a breadstick in his right ear.
He says, “Doctor, what is wrong with me?"
The psychiatrist replies, “You are not eating properly.”

Financial
Foresight
I'd
been working on my business degree for about a year when I finally got to take
a popular finance course. I went to the bookstore to buy the text and was
shocked to find out that it would cost me $96. I asked how much it was worth if
I sold it back at the end of the semester.
"You'll get $24," said the clerk.
"This is insane," I protested as I wrote out the check.
"I know," replied the clerk sympathetically. "I've always
thought that a person who buys a book for $96 and then sells it back for $24
should fail the course."

Yep, It Really Happened
*--
Wacky 911 Calls --*
* A call came into 911 Emergency because two couples were going to share a
hotel room and there weren't enough towels.
* A man called 911 and said: "Please connect me to Seitzerland."
* A lady called 911 because of a fight going on in a parking lot. When asked to
describe the combatants, she said: "I'll try. There's one man, and he's
dressed like Elvis. He's kicking another man who's laying on the ground and
screaming 'You ain't nothing but a hound dog.'"
* Another person called to report he had the hiccups.
* A thirteen-year-old boy called to report he had "stuff" coming from
his navel. Paramedics examined the boy and all they found was belly-button
lint.
* A male complainant called and requested police call gas stations on all exits
of I-95 to find out which ones were open.
* A woman called emergency to report she had seen a wild mouse in her house.
* Someone called 911 to report the parrot got out of his cage and was in a tree
outside.
* A man broke up with his girlfriend and wanted police to go by her house and
report to him the owners of any cars, other than hers, in her driveway.
* A man called to report he had a roach stuck in his ear.
* A guy called to ask if they delivered dope. When the person answering told
him it was the Sheriff's Department, he hung up.
* Another winner called to ask when the Cinco de Mayo celebration was. (Cinco
de Mayo means the 5th of May)
* A female complainant called to request a police officer come to her residence
to change the battery in her smoke detector. She couldn't reach it.
* A drunk called 911 to order a pizza.
* A woman called to report that someone had trespassed on her property. When
asked how she knew this, she reported that the person had trimmed her rose
bushes, and she knew it was her next-door neighbor.
* A person called to find out the number to the police station.

Somewhat Useless Information
Before
World War I, Aspirin was a registered trademark of the German company Bayer.
When Germany lost the war, Bayer gave the trademark to the Allies as a
reparation in the Treaty of Versailles.
***
Thanks
to some clever marketing during World War II, Old Spice aftershave became part
of the soldier's standard-issue toiletry kit and "changed the smell of
things."
***
Early
contact lenses were made from wax molds (wax was poured over the eyes). The
lenses, made of glass, cut off tear flow and severely irritated the eyes. In
fact, the whole ordeal was so painful that scientists recommended an anesthetic
solution of cocaine.
**
On average, each person uses 54 feet of dental floss every year. That may sound
like a lot, but dentists recommend the use of one and a half feet of dental
floss each day. That's equal to 548 feet a year.
***
In
the late 1940s aerosol hair spray was a growing fad among women. The only
problem was that it was water insoluble, which made it hard to wash out. This
was because the earliest fixative was shellac, more commonly used to preserve
wood.
***
Ancient
Chinese, Roman, and German societies frequently used urine as mouthwash.
Surprisingly, the ammonia in urine is a good cleanser.

How products got their name
Matchbox
The
original die-cast Matchbox cars and trucks, introduced in 1953, came in
containers that were the same size and style as matchboxes. It's as simple as
that.

All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All
‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one
other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly
once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore
difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar
was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
