My Rambling Thoughts
What an adventure with Focus Travel in Cuba. Saw so many new things, met new groups, new artists, and a young vibrant Cuban guide. I can only hope that our Cuba-US relations will continue to warm up.
The people of Cuba are very poor, but somehow manage. Any problems there are deal with the governments, not the people. Any problems the Cuban refugees in Miami have with Cuba deal with the government, not the people. I am certainly not a supporter of the communist form of government, nor do I agree with many of the actions of the Cuban government, but all that is a government problem. We have been welcomed with open arms and open hearts by the people of Cuba. When a family worries about how they will feed their family, there is little time to work for change in the government.
Things have really changed in a year. Every square in mid-sized and larger towns and cities now have Wi-Fi in every square. Last year we saw people sitting in the squares with friend and family in the afternoon and evening. This year, almost everyone in the square had a smart phone and was on the internet, still sharing and talking to friends and family near and far. The people seem very excited about the positive changes that are taking place. Few can travel outside Cuba, mostly because of money, but also it is hard to get a VISA to the US or anywhere else. Emigration to the US is easier for Cubans than to do visits. Wages for all workers are horrible. A doctor makes about $70 CUCs a month. That is about $70US a month…and they are the highest paid workers. Few can afford to ‘vacation’, few can afford to go to a local restaurant ever. The family is still very strong and they want a better life for their children. More later.

On The Bridge - Misc Jokes
There were 3 men who were working on a bridge.

One of the worker's name was John, the other one's name was Randall, and the last one's name was Joe.

So one day when the 3 men were taking a lunch break, they all opened up their lunch box and saw what their wives had gave them for lunch.

When John opened his lunch, he saw that he had peanut butter and jelly, so then he said, "If my wife gives me the same lunch tomorrow, I'm going to jump off this bridge.

Then Randall opened his lunch and saw that he had spaghetti and meatballs.

So then he also said the same thing as what John said. Then when Joe opened his lunch he saw that he was having a chicken salad.

So then he said that he too was going to jump off the bridge if he got the same lunch the next day.

So the next day, all 3 men had the same lunch from yesterday and they all jumped off.

A week later when the funeral was scheduled, John's wife said, "If my sweetie- pie told me he wanted a new lunch, he should have told me!” then Randalls wife said "Why did he do it? Why??” then Joe's wife said, "Why did he jump off the bridge? He packed his own lunch!"

Yep, It Really Happened
TORONTO - As U.S. universities Yale and Missouri deal with internal social justice and free speech issues, a Canadian university is implementing new rules to prevent the stifling of controversial or unpopular opinions. John Harris, founder of the Harris Institute in Toronto, has drafted a new set of rules, effective for the Spring semester, in response to complaints about use of language and topics being discussed in the classroom. Students and faculty will be required to agree and comply to "Rules of Civility," one of which threatens probation and even dismissal, for anyone found to have "shouted down an opposing view." Harris told Metro News that he and administrators agree that there is no room for avoiding touchy subjects at the university, known for its courses in music production and management. "We've got courses that talk about hip-hop culture and rap culture and for some people those are sensitive areas in terms of racism, sexism, et cetera," he said. "In the end, the decision to approve the policy was unanimous." Harris cites backlash against an on-campus speech from punk rock drummer Martin Atkins, who he admittedly described as "outspoken," and a trend of over 290 guest speeches that were cancelled across Europe and North America as signs that political correctness has gone to far. "You shouldn't have limits on what can be discussed," he told Metro News. "It's undermining what a lot of people, including me, feel is the essence of post-secondary education."

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
