My Rambling Thoughts
Hump day brings another beautiful fall day here at 7000’. Ran around doing some weekly shopping. Caught up with some Rez friends while shopping. All good.

With 325 million Americans with somewhere around 180 million between 35 and 70, these are the two best candidates for President? Really?!? I am so sick of ‘leaked’ videos, ‘leaked’ emails, and awaiting to see how much lower this election can go. John Oliver, the comedian, did a good bit…”Look up in the sky, see those high clouds, now look higher…OK that is where the campaigns were last week.” This this week he said the same thing with a caveat…”Look up in the sky, see those high clouds, now look higher…that is where we were last week.” ENOUGH ALREADY! For the remainder of the campaign I want to hear nothing but the candidate’s position on issues. No more BS!

2 jokes for the day
The first-time flier was very nervous as he buckled his seat belt before takeoff. He turned to the woman in the next seat and asked, "About how often do jetliners like this crash?"

She thought a moment and replied, "Usually, just once."

↨↨↨↨
I asked a friend of mine by phone what he was doing. He told me he couldn't talk because he was working on "aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminum, and steel while under a dangerously constrained environment."

I was impressed. Until the following day when I learned that meant he was "washing dishes with hot water under his upset wife's supervision."

Yep, It Really Happened
*-- Bald Eagle Stuck in Car Grill in Florida --*

They may be regal. They may be majestic. But nobody ever said they were smart. What appeared at first to be a 3D decal on the front of a car bumper, turned out to be a live eagle. The driver who noticed the eagle stuck in the front grill of a passing car chased down the vehicle and alerted police. Clay County police and firefighters were soon on the seen, and were able to dislodge the eagle. The bird apparently became lodged in the front of the car when it flew too close in front of the oncoming vehicle. The bird was named "Matthew" after the hurricane that recently passed through Florida. Matthew will be released after being nursed back to full health.

Somewhat Useless Information
The British Raj, or British rule, lasted from 1858 to 1947 (although they had a strong presence in India since the 1700s). British influence is still seen in Indian architecture, education system, transportation, and politics. Many of India's worst famines are associated with British rule in India.
***

Indians made significant contributions to calculus, trigonometry, and algebra. The decimal system was invented in India in 100 B.C. The concept of zero as a number is also attributed to India.

How products got their name
Betty Crocker
We hate to be the ones to break this to you, but Betty Crocker is a made-up name, devised to get unsuspecting housewives (the only market for these products back in 1921) to trust the new brand. The name Betty was thought to be cheery and all-American. Crocker honored one William Crocker, a director of the company that launched the brand.

Taylor Swift
In 1989, Michael Jordan scored his 10,000th NBA point, the USSR had its first free election, and Taylor Swift was born. The album, named after Swift's birth year definitely isn't leaving any "Blank Space" in Swift's trophy room. The album won Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys this year, a Billboard Music Award, American Music Award, and an iHeartRadio Music Award. Source: The New York Times

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
