My Rambling Thoughts
Nice quiet Saturday…a little warm, but nice. Downtown had an interesting display of art/trinkets/homemade stuff. Nice walk around, but don’t need any more ‘stuff’.
Nice time on the deck, reading the morning paper and watching the birds.

…Instagram Photo of the Day…

natgeotravel Photo by @FransLanting Fall colors burst forth when deciduous plants quit producing chlorophyll as days grow shorter and cooler. The yellows and reds we see are stages in this seasonal retreat of life. In the Arctic the height of fall color comes and goes in a matter of days—in some places, it happens in late summer. In Alaska’s Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, I captured the fleeting nature of this phenomenon by contrasting the peaking colors on the slope in the foreground with those already fading on the opposite side.

Maybe I Do Like Your Boyfriend
Father: What do you see in that boyfriend of yours?

Teen daughter: Well... he’s reliable.

Father: He’s always late picking you up!

Teen daughter: I know and I can always count on it. Remember when you had to sit in the front room with my dates until I was ready?

Father: Now that you mention it, I’m beginning to like this guy!

Yep, It Really Happened
*--- 6-foot Man Stuffs Himself into Suitcase ---*
A nearly 6-foot tall man was caught on a surveillance camera emerging from a suitcase at a train station in Switzerland. Video shot by a Swiss border guard shows the man's hand sticking out from the suitcase before officers arrive to fully unzip the bag. The man was from Eritrea and had packed himself into the suitcase to cross the border from Italy into Switzerland. The man, who was one of about 3,400 migrants attempting to enter Switzerland's Ticino region, was ultimately sent back to Italy after being discovered inside the suitcase by border guards.

You may have noticed that if you look at the original Latin roots of our months, they just don't add up. Sept comes from 7 but September is the ninth month and the oct- in October- what?! But, actually, the original Roman calendar year was 10 moons long (no that is not a typo, the word 'month' came from 'moon'). The months were around 30 days long and the year lasted about 304 days. So where are those other 61 random days hanging out? Well, they just kind of skipped over winter which we don't think is such a terrible idea, either. Source: LiveScience

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
