My Rambling Thoughts
A very cool phone call today. My upcoming cruise has been discounted about $500. Nice. Also found out that others like the Focus Travel Club website. Glad to hear that, too. Can’t wait to get to Denver for Focus Travel Club annual meeting.
Another great weather day here…hard to believe it is still February… it is much more like April or May.
Stopped to pick up a script at Walgreens and a cute little girl and her mother were selling Girl Scout Cookies. I got 2 boxes of Thin Mints and gave her a nice tip too. Love them those Thin Mints.

Vikings had horns on their helmets
Almost no images are as ingrained as the bloodthirsty Viking raider with his axe and horned helmet terrorizing an English seaside village. This romanticized image of the Viking actually comes from the 19th century when composer Richard Wagner used Vikings in horned helmets as central characters in his opera "Der Ring des Nibelungen." The image became synonymous, and a myth was born. In reality, having horns on your helmet is a terrible idea since it is something for an opponent to use against you in combat.

…Secret Societies…
Ordo Templi Orientis:
Founded in the early 20th century by an Austrian chemist. O.T.O's most known member is Aleister Crowley, the famed English occulitist. Crowley revamped the masonic group to focus on a religion he created called Thelema. Thelemites believe that our existence is a product of the relationship between the space-time continuum and the principle of life and wisdom. To become a member, you must go through a series of rituals and initiations.

2 jokes for the day
Shakey went to a psychiatrist. "Doc," he said, "I've got trouble. Every time I get into bed, I think there's somebody under it. I get under the bed, I think there's somebody on top of it. Top, under, top, under. You gotta help me, I'm going crazy!"

"Let me take care of it," said the shrink. "Come to me three times a week, and I'll cure your fears."

"How much do you charge?"

"A hundred dollars per visit."

"I'll sleep on it," said Shakey.

Six months later the doctor met Shakey on the street. "Why didn't you ever come to see me again?" asked the psychiatrist.

"For a hundred bucks a visit? A bartender cured me for ten dollars."

"Is that so! How?"

"He told me to cut the legs off the bed!"

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
