❆❆My
Rambling Thoughts❆❆
What
a great adventure we had. Back on Feb. 1 we flew from Denver to SF, and then on
a 14+ hour flight to Singapore. Nice plane, palatable choices of food for 2
meals, some sleep. After landing we took a tour of Singapore before checking
into the motel. Singapore is vibrant, huge port city. Lots of goods go through
that port. They really push that they are a developed country. I may be a
little cynical, but I could see through the ‘show’ and see that we were not
seeing much beyond what showed that they were a developed nation. Hotel was
great, food was very good. Sleep was essential. We went to Jurong Bird Park.
The one of the largest covered aviary in the world, along with the highest
man-made waterfall (about 100’). It was a beautiful park with many, many birds
(about 5000-with 400 different species) on 20+ hectares (about 50 acres). Time
well spent for sure. Then it was off to our ship, the Nautica, with Oceania
Cruises. My roommate and I had upgraded one notch from the smallest room with a
portal, to a decent sized ship room with a large window, overlooking the life
boat and a decent bathroom and shower. My roommate Ed and I had traveled on
several trips, this was the first time we were roommates. We got along very well and he has had an
amazing life. He was an early programmer of code for the Titan missiles and now
at 80 is involved in many groups regarding early Colorado history. His stories
kept me entranced as we got ready for breakfast and while we ate every meal.
Then we headed for Cambodia.
For
those who are wondering…SE Asia is HOT and HUMID. Our ship even posted many
days that the humidity was 102% or 103%. As Ed pointed out, that is basically
impossible. We traveled to Cambodia in our first or two major storms with about
10’ waves and swell that was not an enjoyable experience. Walking, eating, and
sleeping on a roller coaster. More on Cambodia and the rest of the trip
tomorrow.

❆❆Yep,
It Really Happened❆❆
A
teenager was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a
train while trying to take the perfect selfie, according to police in Florida.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. over the cliff at Bluffs Park North.
The Pensacola Police Department said that the 18-year-old woman is undergoing
treatment in a hospital after she was struck by the train.
Officer Nathaniel Aikens said that Julia Laureano of Destin and a friend, Leah
Bateman, 20, of Pensacola, had been taking pictures of each other on and by the
railroad tracks.
Aikens said that Laureano was injured after she stood next to the tracks to
take a picture of herself with an oncoming train in the background.
However, the train hit Laureano as it passed and dragged her several feet
before she fell off to the side onto some rocks. The train was southbound and
was moving about 40 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
She was taken to the Sacred Heart Hospital, where she is said to be in serious
condition.

2002
The
New England Patriots won their first Super Bowl under Coach Bill Belichick in
February 2002. In 1986 the franchise went to their first Super Bowl, but the
Chicago Bears decimated them by a score of 46-10. In 1997 the Patriots went
back to the Super Bowl, but were defeated by Brett Favre and the Green Bay
Packers by a score of 35-21. And in 2004, the franchise established itself as a
legitimate dynasty in the eyes of many pundits by winning its third Super Bowl
in four years against the Philadelphia Eagles. Source nfl.com

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with
at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes
and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is
therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian
calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
