My Rambling Thoughts
Friday finally got here. For some reason this
has been a long week.
Ran around and picked up necessities this
morning. I have a really nice 7 year old Bose system that is connected to my TV
and it has a DVD player and an AMFM radio. The sound is amazing. When I got my
Roku, for Netflix, the sound would only come through the TV. Boring. I have
tried lots of different hookups and nothing lets the sound go through the Bose
system. While at Best Buy I talked to a guy. He doesn’t believe me. He had two
suggestions—1st, pay them $75 to do a house call and see if they can
make it work. Whether is works or not, it costs $75. 2nd, buy a
sound bar for $300 and don’t use the Bose. Not happy with either suggestion, so
I’ll stick with what I have for a while longer. Technology is changing so fast
it is hard for this old guy to keep up.

Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
What Am I?
Riddles are little poems or phrases
that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this
is not a requirement.
The more you make of me the more you
leave behind. What am I?

Yep, It Really Happened
Democracy Blues
Chicago Tribune In January, Robert Battle took
the oath of office for his second term as a city councilman in East Chicago,
Indiana -- administered at the county lockup, where he is being held without
bail, charged with a cold-blooded murder during a drug deal. The crime made
news in October (i.e., before election day), yet Battle still won his race.
According to law, he cannot be forced out of office unless he is convicted or
admits the crimes, and he had the right to vote for himself in the election (except
that he failed to request an absentee ballot).

Somewhat Useless Information
According to the condom company
Durex, condom sales are highest around Valentine's Day, which are 20-30 percent
higher than usual.
Not surprisingly, more at-home pregnancy tests are sold in March than in any
other month.
The roots of St. Valentine's Day can be traced back to the Roman fertility
festival of Lupercalia. On Lupercalia, a young man would draw the name of a
young woman in a lottery and would then keep the woman as a companion for the
year.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is
usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every
site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites
simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring
before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally
accurate.
