My Rambling Thoughts
Good Sunday, a little cloudy but no rain.
Happy to hear Obama bring an end to ‘No Child Left Behind”. From my perspective it was never a good idea. Elementary children learn so much in early schooling and it is not all measurable on a standardized test. Most creativity has been abolished from the curriculum and basically everything is taught for the test. Scores did not go up and so much more was lost to a generation. Life is not about filling in bubbles or regurgitating facts. Maybe this move will bring back art, music, PE, social studies and more back into the elementary school. And maybe, just maybe, kids will be able to be kids again.

Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
Once upon a time there was a dad and 3 kids. When the kids were adults, the dad was old and Death came to take the dad. The first son, who became a lawyer, begged Death to let the dad live a few more years. Death agreed. When Death came back, the second son, who became a doctor begged Death to let his fsather live a few more days. Death agreed. When Death came back the third son, who became a priest begged Death to let the dad live till that candle wick burned out and he pointed to a candle. Death agreed. The third son knew Death wouldn't come back, and he didn't. Why not?

2 jokes for the day
At a traffic court, the judge asked the motorist: Tell me, why did you park your car here?
The man said: “Well, there was a sign that said “fine for parking.”

A man goes into B&Q and says, “I’d like to order 5,000 facing bricks.”
“Certainly” says the salesman, “Are they for a garage?”
“No” says the man; “They’re for a Bar-B-Q”
“Why do you need so many?” asks the salesman
“Well,” says the man “We live in a 3rd floor flat.”

Yep, It Really Happened
CHAMPLIN, Minn. - Police in Minnesota arrested a woman accused of sending anonymous threats to a neighbor family saying she wanted to "taste" their "delicious children." Champlin police said Carrie Pernula, 38, was arrested Friday after an investigation into anonymous threats received by a family living in her neighborhood. The first note, received by the family Sept. 27, was addressed to "sir or madam" and said simply, "The children look delicious. May I have a taste?" The children's mother posted a picture of the letter in a Champlin community Facebook group. The parents said they soon started receiving magazine subscriptions addressed to "Your Tasty Children." Police said they tracked the magazine subscriptions back to Pernula, who admitted to sending the mail. "She was angry because the kids were leaving things in her yard and I think being a little noisy, being kids, the way kids are," Champlin Deputy Police Chief Ty Schmidt told WCCO-TV. Police said the Champlin city attorney is reviewing the case for potential charges of gross misdemeanor terroristic threats and stalking.

Somewhat Useless Information
1. Infidelity doesn’t necessarily signal an unhappy relationship. Regardless of the correlation between relationship dissatisfaction and adultery, among individuals engaging in infidelity in one study, 56% of men and 34% of women rated their marriage as “happy” or “very happy,” suggesting that genetics may also play a role in philandering.
2. Mate poaching is a pronounced trend. In a recent survey of single American men and women, 60% of men and 53% of women admitted to “mate poaching,” trying to woo an individual away from a committed relationship to begin a relationship with them instead. Mate poaching is also common in 30 other cultures.
3. There are different types of infidelity. Researchers have broadened the definition of infidelity to include sexual infidelity (sexual exchange with no romantic involvement), romantic infidelity (romantic exchanges with no sexual involvement) and sexual and romantic involvement.
4. Infidelity has been a reality across cultures. It was also common among the classical Greeks and Romans, pre-industrial Europeans, historical Japanese, Chinese and Hindus and among the traditional Inuit of the arctic, Kuikuru of the jungles of Brazil, Kofyar of Nigeria, Turu of Tanzania and many other tribal societies.
5. Pairbonding is a hallmark of humanity. Data from the Demographic Yearbooks of the United Nations on 97 societies between 1947 and 1992 indicate that approximately 93.1% of women and 91.8% of men marry by age 49.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
